Privacy Policy

1.Who is responsible

2.What we collect

• Account details: full name, email address, and your password (stored only in hashed form, never as plain text).
• Farm records you enter: for example crop and planting details, schedules, expenses, income and notes.
• Verification and security data: your email verification status and timestamps, and a session cookie that keeps you signed in.
• Technical data: such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider may log to keep the Service running and secure.
• Consent record: the time and version of the Terms and Privacy Policy you accepted when you signed up.

3.Why we use it

• to create and secure your account and verify your email address;
• to provide RiceWise features such as crop tracking, financial summaries, the planting calendar, reminders and weather analysis;
• to send service messages, such as verification and password reset emails;
• to keep the Service safe, prevent abuse and fix problems;
• to meet legal obligations.

We process your information based on your consent, because it is needed to provide the Service you asked for, and where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information.

4.Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers that help us run RiceWise, and only as much as they need:

• EmailJS sends verification and account emails. It receives your name, email address and the verification link.
• Our hosting and database provider stores the Service's data.
• Google Fonts delivers the fonts on our pages. Your browser contacts Google to load them, which can reveal your IP address.

Some providers are located outside the Philippines, so your data may be processed abroad. We require our providers to protect it. We may also disclose information when required by law, a court order or a government authority.

5.How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable time, except for records we must keep by law. Accounts that never complete email verification may be removed.

6.How we protect it

We use reasonable organizational, physical and technical safeguards, including hashed passwords and restricted access to our systems. No system is completely secure. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to put you at risk, we will notify you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.

7.Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:

• be informed about how your data is processed;
• access a copy of your personal data;
• object to processing, or withdraw your consent;
• correct inaccurate or outdated data;
• request suspension, withdrawal, blocking, removal or destruction of your data;
• data portability, where applicable;
• claim compensation for damages caused by inaccurate, unlawfully obtained or unauthorized use of your data;
• file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).

To use any of these rights, email ricewise@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity first.

8.Cookies

We use one session cookie, which is needed to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.

9.Children

RiceWise is not directed at children under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it.

10.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version.
